- 0:00 - Innovative automation with RC-1 Cobot Palletizer from REITEC
Innovation automation solutions can improve flexibility and boost productivity in the palletising sector, whilst still ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for workers. To meet the needs of customers in the fast-moving consumer goods industry (FMCG), OMRON distributor and industrial automation specialist, Reitec Engineering Services, has developed the new RC-1 cobot palletiser solution.
Reitec is based in Las Palmas, in Gran Canaria, one of Spain’s Canary Islands. The company specialises in the design, installation and programming of industrial automation solutions. By working together, Reitec and OMRON were able to form combine Reitec’s extensive experience in the design of industrial control systems with OMRON latest automation technologies, including collaborative robots (cobots).
Developing a compact solution
Palletising is a task that often incurs high personnel, operational and economic costs. Javier Ruiz, Reitec’s Programming Engineer, comments: “Our customers wanted a very compact solution in terms of the space occupied when compared with the manual palletising of heavy boxes and very tall pallets.”
A flexible and adaptable cobot
The new RC-1 cobot has a reach of up to 1300mm and can take a payload of up to 14kg. It’s easy to integrate into a factory and operates at up to nine picks per minute. One of its main characteristics is its flexibility: it can easily adapt to new applications and customer demands. This is partly because the palletising robot has integrated vision, which enables it to carry out product identification tasks or to easily modify the gripper position at the pick-up point.
