OMRON launches the cost-effective C6 Series servo system ideal for light-duty applications

The C6 Series servo covers a power range from 50 W to 7.5 kW, with EtherCAT interface and fully integrated into the Sysmac automation platform.

OMRON has expanded its motion portfolio with the C6 Series, an AC servo system designed for light-duty axes. The C6 Series offers a power range of 50 W to 7.5 kW, in 230 V single-phase and 400 V three-phase models. 

Designed to meet the evolving demands of modern machine automation, this servo solution delivers optimal performance motion control in a cost-effective solution. With the optimal balance of performance, functionality, and value, it helps machine builders enhance productivity, reduce development time, and strengthen competitive advantage. 

The servo drives have a compact footprint and a constant height through the power range up to 3 kW, which simplifies panel layout, shortens assembly time and reduces installation cost. Pluggable connectors for power, motor, encoder and integrated I/O ensure quick installation and fast replacement.  

Providing modern technology at affordable cost, the C6 servo motor encoder comes with a 26-bit resolution, the encoder can be configured as incremental or absolute with battery backup. The servo drive provides a frequency response of 3.5 kHz, with full closed-loop control available for applications requiring a second encoder. Hardwired Safe Torque Off is built in as standard, certified to Cat. 4, PLe and SIL 3. 

The new C6 Series enhances OMRON's portfolio by offering an affordable servo solution with modern technology for light-duty applications, while the existing 1S Series continues to provide the best solution for long-lasting and high-performance applications with a power range up to 15 kW. 

The C6 Series is configured, commissioned, and maintained from the integrated Sysmac Studio software tool, alongside NX machine controllers, NX I/O, sensing, vision, and safety. Axis setup is intuitive, and the combination of a high-speed EtherCAT real-time network with one integrated development environment supports faster commissioning and reliable operation.
